Trail Event Permitting

The Spokane River Centennial Trail is one of our region’s most popular outdoor destinations, welcoming millions of visitors every year. If you are planning to host an organized event such as a run, walk, ride, or group gathering on the Trail, you must first obtain the proper permits through Washington State Parks.

Hosting an Event on the Spokane River Centennial Trail

Permit Requirements

  • All events on the Centennial Trail require a permit from Washington State Parks.

  • The permitting process ensures that events are safe, respectful of other trail users, and aligned with trail stewardship.

  • Friends of the Centennial Trail does not issue permits, but we are here to provide guidance and resources to help you navigate the process.

How to Apply

  • Contact Washington State Parks – Riverside State Park Office at 509-465-5064.
  • Complete the official event permit application as required by State Parks.
  • Work with State Parks staff to determine logistics, insurance requirements, and event guidelines.

Additional Notes

  • Event hosts are responsible for ensuring participants follow Trail Rules, Etiquette, and Safety Guidelines.

  • Large-scale events may require additional coordination with local jurisdictions such as the City of Spokane, Spokane Valley, or Spokane County Parks.

  • Friends of the Centennial Trail can provide trail maps, history, and resources to support your event planning, but permitting authority remains with State Parks.
